filed in Randomness on Dec.26, 2008
Laganas is famous for its partying holiday scene as it is the place to party on the Greek island of Zante (aka Zakynthos), so if you’re interested in taking a trip to Laganas then it’s not likely that you are intent on an early night or a relaxing break. Laganas is becoming larger and livlier year after year with growing numbers of pubs and clubs opening as tourism develops.
There’s a five-mile stretch of sandy beach and a one-mile long central area consisting of restaurants, bars and clubs. This is what a Laganas Zante package is all about, relaxing days on the beach or by the pool, a few daytime drinks at the hotel or beachfront bar before the main action begins after the sun drops below the horizon. This is when the Laganas party atmosphere starts up. Revellers start occupying the restaurants, bars and clubs in central Laganas en masse. The choice of restaurants in Laganas is amazingly varied, everything from fast food to Indian, Chinese, Mexican and even the occasional Greek Taverna.
Despite everything there are surprising pockets of tranquility at some Laganas hotels, such as the Louis Zante Beach Hotel and the Zante Atlantis hotel. These two hotels offer a family setting out of ear range but just an easy walk from central Laganas. The weather in Laganas is invariably always sunny during the Summer. There is a wide choice of budget Laganas apartments, so it should be possible to remain within your budget whatever it’s level. Holidays to Laganas are regularly featured on amazing last minute deals, so don’t rule out the likelyhood of getting yourself a real bargain holiday.
The long sands of Laganas stretch as far as the sister resorts of Lithakia to the West and Kalamaki at the eastern end of the beach. Behind the golden sands lie pubs and eating places, so taking lunch or an all day breakfast needn’t interrupt your sunbathing schedule. Laganas beach turtles who lay their eggs under the sands on a few special nights each year.
